Y'all ready for this?

(are you thinking of the song now from my post title?) That was my intention.

That's right y'all, the Mormons are taking over.

{Possibly in a town near you!} On Oct 3rd, there is going to be a Mormon invasion. Hide yo' kids, hide yo' wife.

Ok, ok, that was a bit drastic, but here's the scoop:

We were informed that for about a month, our good ol' city of Phoenix is literally going to be bombarded with tv commercials, billboards, radio commercials, etc during that month, then it'll "chill out" a little. In church we were encouraged to create a profile on mormon.org and then to effectively answer questions anyone might have about our church, and to possibly even invite them to our "profile" on mormon.org, which briefly talks about our life, how we became members of the church, and most importantly, our testimony about our Savior, Jesus Christ.

I have to admit, I was kind of annoyed when I first heard about this. Our church has had a lot of publicity lately because of the "Book of Mormon" play, Mormon church members in the political scene, and etc. A lot of it is negative, but there is surprisingly good that comes from it also. I felt like with this new "awareness" {I guess you could call it} it was like we were advertising our church, even though really, there is no motive behind it, no gimmick, no "pay your clergy" (which we don't do anyway) movement, nada.

As I think about it more, it is actually kinda clever. The church is using modern media to spread the word that Mormons are "normal every day people," and that really they want to show the world that we are indeed Christians, and that we believe Jesus is our Savior; afterall, our church title does bear His name.

I still have mixed feelings, but I do believe that good can come from this. Hopefully if anything, it will help clarify all those random ridiculous things that people think about us.

What do you think?

Depending on what end of the spectrum you are on, I hope you are ready to do some asking, and some explaining...or maybe a little bit of both.

What is....

I find it as a fun challenge to have to explain something that is common to me, to someone who has never heard of such a word, thing, concept...etc.

{is it ironic that I think I explained that poorly?}

While attending BYU Hawaii {and maybe since meeting Wolfgang?}, I did that a lot more often than I thought I would ever have to.

Yesterday, a co-worker asked me what Halloween was. Halloween! That was fun. I then got into the discussion of what a haunted house is.

I have a love-hate relationship with haunted houses. I don't like to be scared, but I really like going to haunted houses. But I will only go under these conditions: I MUST have a death grip on someone; preferably be in the middle of two people; not be in the front of a group; and I usually scream way too much. I find them terrifying yet exciting.

Now I'm excited to hopefully find one here and go!

Quarter of a Century.

Yesterday I turned the big 2-5. I feel so old! Yet I'm still a child at heart.

Thanks to all those that made it special with messages, phone calls, and gifts. I really did appreciate every bit of it.

My good ol' husband made sure that it was going to be a great birthday, and it truly was. The day's festivities included:

-homemade delicious breakfast by Wolfgang

-hair cut(sorry, no head-on shot, I didn't like how the picture turned out. btw my hair isn't that red color, it's just bad lighting and using my camera phone)
I really liked how my hairstylist styled it. Why can't I ever seem to fully re-create what they did?!

-successful shoe shopping (this seems to be a rare occurrence)

-dinner at The Melting Pot with our family friend who recently got married. We hooked them up with a great room at Wolfgang's hotel for their wedding, and in return they wanted to treat us for dinner; oh boy did they ever! The Melting Pot is so SO good! I had heard good things about it, but we had never been there before. Definitely not one of those places you can go to often, but it was fantastic. Maybe someday in the near future, I'll buy a nice fondue pot? We'll see.

Wolfgang had even made me a cake, but we didn't even touch it because we were beyond full from dinner! Needless to say we still have a cake that hasn't been touched, haha. Trying to convince some friends to help us eat it, we hope they buy it.

As you can see I was really spoiled, and I felt very loved. Cheers to a new year!

Mayhem.

I love the Allstate mayhem commercials.

Here's one I saw for the first time tonight

And here is one of my current favorites, maybe because I can relate to it? Minus the running into things part.

And as a competitor, here's a funny Geico one that my mom loves. Make us laugh every time.

Now do something more productive than watch commercials!

Real Job?

Today I had to do something new at my job. I was in charge of the night activity at this small facility for kids and families, which on Friday nights happen to be the "Pajama Party," which consists of eating in one of the resort's restaurants, making/stuffing a simple pillow, and watching a movie.

Well, needless to say no one signed up for it, which was kind of expected for this slow weekend.

So what did this mean? I got paid to play on an iPad and watch movies by myself {in A/C!!} for 3 hours.

Not bad, huh?

I think all of a sudden I am temporarily ok with not having a "real job" right now.

Almost?

Yesterday when I got into work, I had apparently just missed Matthew Perry soaking up some rays.

Although, this information did come second-hand from a food server from Jamaica who had no idea who he was {yet was supposedly serving him}, or had never in her life heard of 'Friends'; therefore, the validity is to be determined.

Therefore, yesterday will be deemed "The day that I almost saw Matthew Perry in real life, but it may not have really been him after all" -day.

Two is better than three.

What's that, you ask? Oh, that's the weather for the next couple of days. I case you didn't notice, the digits are two instead of three. I thought this day would never come.

The lightning storms the last couple of nights have been pretty impressive; I told Wolfgang while driving last night that it looked like there was a dance party going on in heaven. Other areas of the valley have been getting fun rain storms too, but no love yet here in da central.

I think this will also make for an exciting week at work. Can't wait!

Bought a blender. Made a smoothie. Happy girl.

I just can't get enough

This is one of the few movies I have ever purchased; I don't think I'll ever get sick of it.

Addiction.

So this Sierra Mist trend I talked about a couple of posts ago? It's starting to become an addiction. Today, instead of just having a small cafeteria cup of it during lunch, I had to get my $0.10 21oz (?) later in the shift, and then after work, I got another one.

What is wrong with me?!

Sierra Mist {or any others like it} has always seemed so lame to me, until now. I don't get it. But Dr. Pepper will always be dear to my heart too.

My other new addiction? Use to be: Pizza, for a few months. {Preferably Mamma Mia's Pizza.It's sooo good.}

Now: Soup n' Salad. I dunno why, but I guess I just decided the other day that I like some of the "soup of the day" 's at work. The salad bar is a pretty good pick too, especially when the lunch special of the day looks sketchy {as it usually does}.

There you have it. What are your current obsessions? Don't feel bad if they are, and always are, food...like mine. No shame.

Dinner: FAIL.

Husbands are great for:

Getting things from high places {if they are 6' 4" of course}, and

Opening things.

Well, my honey bee sugar Euro pie wasn't home tonight when I needed my Spaghetti sauce opened; I tried, and tried, and tried.

So for dinner, I had spaghetti noodles and broccoli.

Happy Labor Day

Somehow Wolfgang and I both got today off from work, which was really nice. So far we have caught up on sleep {I've been more lazy than him today}, washed our car which was desperately needed, and went and saw this movie:
It wasn't exactly what I expected, but I still really liked it.

Hope you all are able to/have been able to enjoy this holiday weekend one way or another.

A few things lately

Ok, so I already realize this post may not be that exciting- I apologize in advance.

So here are a few things that have happened/realized/whatever in the last week.

1- I never drink 7up, Sierra Mist, etc. I think it is a waste of a soda, and totally boring. The weird thing is though, that I now officially love it on my lunch break at work! Really weird. Here's my explanation of why: While working, I drink enough water to hydrate a large camel. When lunch comes around, I want to taste something different, but don't want to be bogged down and dehydrated by a real soda, so instead I drink a cup of Sierra Mist. Yep, me in the employee cafeteria- one cup water, one cup Sierra Mist, and I'm a happy girl.

2- I've already got bad tan lines on my arms from work. lame. It's only going to get worse...

3- For those of you who have me on facebook, I'm sorry but I'm sharing this again here {copy and paste, thank YOU!} This is what I discovered today: The mind and body is truly an incredible thing. In a short amount of time, mine has figured out when to wake up when I get close to the bus stop that I need to get off at. Genius!

4- Every woman needs to own a cute black dress. {There's a quote like that somewhere, right?} Well, I bought mine the other day. My (and Wolfgang's) current favorite store is Banana Republic (outlet! duh). Well of course they lured me in with store wide everything 40% off sale, and in addition I got a 20% entire purchase coupon through my email. They sure are good at their advertising!

Needless to say I found a really cute dress, and I can't wait to wear it and act fancy. I'm convinced I need to buy shoes to go with it though...

5- Marriott pays their employees double when they work on "legit" holidays, and also on your birthday, but there's a catch- you have to have worked for them for over 90 days. Too bad Labor Day and my birthday fall during those 90 days. I was really looking forward to getting paid extra mula on my birthday. Oh well!

That is all, for today.
