Someone has to do it.

This morning as I was walking by a school full of small children on a chaotic playground, i watched as there were several adult women sporatically situated around the grounds. You could tell that they were routinely watching all the children in their vicinity, to make sure they were safe, and whatever else.

First, i thought to myself, those poor women. But within a few seconds, I was a little less negative, and thought, what great women they are. You see, I tend to complain when I have to deal with bratty and extremely obnoxious kids while I'm at work. It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it only happens for a few hours, at the most. I can tolerate children, but I dont take great joy in being around them. I have the freedom of doing different things in my work day, so i can actually "take a break," if you will, when I've just about had it. But these women? They are probably lucky if they have a break from them, for just their short lunch breaks. I've always had appreciation for everyone and anyone who is in the field of education and especially those who have to deal with the little ones, whether it is in school, day care, etc. But today, that appreciation was even more increased.

Real Job?

Today I had to do something new at my job. I was in charge of the night activity at this small facility for kids and families, which on Friday nights happen to be the "Pajama Party," which consists of eating in one of the resort's restaurants, making/stuffing a simple pillow, and watching a movie.

Well, needless to say no one signed up for it, which was kind of expected for this slow weekend.

So what did this mean? I got paid to play on an iPad and watch movies by myself {in A/C!!} for 3 hours.

Not bad, huh?

I think all of a sudden I am temporarily ok with not having a "real job" right now.

Mr. mom

Have you every noticed that a lot of men will only push baby strollers with just one hand {and usually walk to the side of the stroller, not directly behind it}, and not both? As if it is "unmanly" to put both hands on the handle.

I remember thinking this before, after I had seen a lot of men doing the one-handed-push-the-child technique; I was once again reminded of it today when I saw a man pushing his cranky daughter in her stroller who was, indeed, doing it one-handedly.

I wonder what my husband will do when we have kids? Europeans tend to be a little more 'metro', so he'll use both hands then, right? ;)
