It's been a while since I've been in a library, and even longer since I've been in a "cool" library {Salt Lake City's library}. Today I went to the Burton Barr Central Library to get my new read (sorry, their website wasn't as cool so I had to resort to wikipedia) and it was so awesome!
Maybe I just don't get out much?
No, it's actually really that cool.
... regardless of the crazies chillin in the front that you have to dodge.
I could have stayed there all afternoon, but needless to say there were things to be done, and four missionaries to feed.
I shall return.

Seasiders....lost at sea.
Today I was routing for our BYU-Hawaii Seasiders,

T-shirt and all, as I watched them play today online. Our men's basketball team made it to the championships for Div II- for the first time in its history!
It was a great game to watch and yell at; pretty much neck-to-neck. The Seasiders were doing awesome...until the 2nd half, and especially the 2nd half of the 2nd half (get it?) Our boys totally choked, kinda embarrassing and shameful. I did feel bad for our star player though, Jet Chang, who was pushed over by a (censored) player from Bellarmine and who smacked his head realllly hard on the floor, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a concussion, but he got up and kept playing!
The final score was 68-71, they were sooooo close! Even though in the last few moments of the game they had some *smack forehead* and *hit and yell at computer* moments, I am still proud of them for making it to championships!
PROUD to be a Seasider alumna!

weird combination
Today I was going through the many ads and coupons I get in the mail, seeing if there was anything worth keeping. On top of the regular ones I get, I got a whole envelope FULL of coupons, so I went through them.
Unfortunately, there were too many of these-

Divorce and Bankruptcy ads/coupons. Sad.
But wait a minute...let's take a closer look at that pictures selection for this ad...

A guy with a bloody nose? Say what? Or maybe about to vomit? Not quite sure, but it looks like his soon to be ex-wife is concerned. (Maybe it'll work out after all)
Wow. You thought divorce or bankruptcy was bad enough, try adding a bloody nose on to that. {I HATE bloody noses! I'm pretty sure I drain my whole body when I have them}
I'm thinking this guy doesn't handle stress well, poor guy.
(Looks like the intern was in charge of this one.)

DIY burgers
Wolfgang and I love food. Yes, it's true, in case you couldn't tell yet.
One thing we really like is to go to places where you can create your own burger. They typically are a little expensive so we don't do it very often, but when we do...MmmMMM!!
So last night we decided to do a "DIY" burger feast. Although we didn't have as many options as you would find at the burger joint, we did still have "gourmet" beef, mixed greens, fancy cheese {swiss of course}, and banana peppers; we love them b. peps! We also LOVE sweet potato fries, which is something else that is usually on the burger menu, so we made our own s.p. fries as well, which sometimes comes with a delicious aioli dip. It's kinda a sin in my book now to have sweet potato fries without the aioli stuff, so I decided to look up a recipe.
So I did, made it up and....it was good, but nothing like in the restaurants. Comes to find out, there are numerous different types of aioli sauces. Who knew? Wolfgang did. I didn't. So I finally found what I was looking for, and it was divine- the icing on the cake.
The recipe is super simple and found here. There are so many variations, but I tried that one and really liked it. I also added a big blob of dijon to it.
By the end of the night we were content with our meal and our garlicy breath.
{Sorry, lots of words and no photos}

Paradise on a tray
Wolfgang and I are in love with this place:
We ate there today and it was divine, as usual. Subway doesn't stand a chance against this place. They have delicious sandwiches, mouth-watering salads, and the BEST sun dried tomato soup.
I've thought in the back on my head a couple of times that I should work there so I can eat whatever I want, whenever I want it, but seeing my relationship with Subway now, I think it's a really bad idea.
Then again, finding a job is so terrible "these days," that maybe I should consider it.
Nope, nope, can't do it. I don't want to ruin our amazing relationship.

An oasis in the desert
Wolfgang and I spent some time at the Mesa temple yesterday.

Not only is it beautiful inside and out, but it is also where my parents were sealed. Thank goodness for them, for this single event was the best decision they could ever make for their future family.
Anytime I have gotten homesick for my family, I just remind myself that I've got them and they've got me FOREVER- we can't get rid of each other ;)

The good and the bad.
Let's get the bad out of the way, shall we?
-I had a terrible interview today. Without being too wordy, i'll give quick reasons why it was so bad.
1) It was a group interview
2) It was 2 1/2 hours long...let me repeat, 2 1/2!!!
3) 5 people in the interview "interviewing," 3 of which didn't need to be there, 2 of which a.
was chewing their gum b. texting. really people?
4) all around not so friendly and unprofessional vibe. PS I HATE when interviewers won't
look at me when I'm talking to them, and no, it wasn't a cultural thing.
5) had to take a ridiculous test at the end, "only 12 minutes to work on it" and all.
Sigh.
- Wolfgang is working tonight so we can't watch THE BACHELOR {season finale!} during it's air time! The suspense might kill me. I think I'll have to avoid facebook status updates until we watch it. I'm on team Emily, btw.
Now, finally for the 'good':
-I got my hair cut today. and I love it! suuuper short, but I'm happy, and the hairstylist rocked my hair, and had a great personality too~definitely will be going back. My goal was to not cut my hair until I got a job...but it was getting way too shaggy. Might have hindered me from getting a job, right? ... ps I will be saying NO to that company if they ask me for a second interview. I'm desperate, but not THAT desperate.

A few things
A few happenings this last week...
- Wolfgang and I went to "Black Forest Haus" for some German food (with my $25 gift card that I only paid $3 for, thank you very much). Wolfgang loved it and the food was good. I knew it was a true German spot when I saw this on our table:

-Wolfgang got new glasses! He's a happy boy. I can't even count how many times during the time we were looking at glasses, and him saying, "WOW! I have AMAZING insurance!" "This is so cheap!" {picture to come}
-I had 2 interviews this last week, and have 2 more for next week lined up

-Last night we watched Disneynature Oceans (courtesy of our free month with blockbuster.com)
... and LOVED it! I love the ocean and especially the creatures inside of it. The movie was very well done and the photography is beyond words. Go watch it!
-Finally starting to recycle here, even though I'm not quite sure where I can take it to yet...Google and I will figure it out shortly.
-The weather is now officially getting to 90 degrees. oh boy.
Have a great weekend :)

Another steal
Ok people, I have to tell you about this deal.
My new little {bored-and-unemployed} hobby is to read google blogs. Pretty much just whatever comes up. Today, I came across one that mentioned about a great deal restaurant.com is currently having.
Restaurant.com is a place where you can get gift cards for restaurants, pubs, etc for a discounted price, kind of like what you would find on groupon, but instead of it just being for one day, it's always.
WELL...right now, if you find a place you'd like to eat (I have yelp.com help me out) and you get a gift card, put it in your online "cart" and in the promo code box, type: SAVE and guess what? I tried it and for a $25 worth at a restaurant, you can get it for $3!!!!! Yep, you better believe it.
Check it out soon, because I think the offer expires in the next few days, or a week...I want to say it said March 14th, but don't quote me on that one.
Enjoy

The little things.
Today, I am reminded of how grateful I am to finally have a washer/dryer located IN our apartment, and also a dishwasher. It's been a long while, and using them today {pathetically} made me smile.
Thank you, technology.

Steal of a Deal!
For a past birthday or Christmas, I got a Blockbuster gift card, the only problem was, there wasn't one anywhere nearby us while living in Hawaii, so we decided to keep it until we moved back to the big rock.
The other night I remembered I had it, so Wolfgang and I decided to venture out and look for a Blockbuster, with the help of our trusty GPS. Needless to say, it lead us 3 vacant buildings....we were unaware that Blockbuster actually filed for bankruptcy.
The next day we decided to try yet another location, but this time we called ahead of time to see if they actually existed, and sure enough they did....but of course, it was closing down and selling everything.
DVDs were already cheap, but we really got a steal of a deal: with our powers combined with a promotion if we signed up for their online rival to netflix plus our giftcard, we bought 5 DVDs for only $8.17!!! (including m&ms pretzels, thank you very much) We are pretty proud of ourselves.
Of the collection, is one of my all time favorite "old school" Disney movies that I've always wanted to own:
I'm a happy girl.
(Thanks Danielle? for the gift card.)

episode 3: awake.
...or is this episode 4? I'm not sure.
You all that have been reading my blog know, that Wolfgang likes to make funny conversations with me, when he's half asleep.
Well this time, he was well awake (or kind of) eyes open and all, after I tried waking him up from a nap. He wrestled around a little bit, waking up...looks at me, yada yada, then he says,
"Your room is ready"
Me: laughs, "oh honey, you're so funny"
W: "what?" (then I tell him what he just said to me) he looks right at me and says,
"your last name is Burton, right?" (says something little before that but I forgot what he says)
Me: snap my fingers at his face, (a little freaked out at this point) "Honey, it's me, wake up, you're starting to freak me out."
W: moans a little and says, "I dunno, I must be having a dream or something." Then turns and tries to go back to sleep.
Me: I let him, because I'm a little too weirded out!
That's what I get for him working for Marriott...good thing he has tomorrow off.

crush.
Wolfgang and I are watching American Idol this season,
and needless to say, Wolfgang has a man crush on this guy:

Paul McDonald.
Ok, I do have to admit, he is very nice to look at, and has a great smile. He's got spunk and a very unique voice, very nice and easy to listen to.
To get a feel for what he's like, watch/listen to a video of him here.

Thoughts of the day
I feel like blogging, but don't have a lot to blog about, so here goes nothing (to those that are severely bored and have nothing else to do)
thoughts:
Why hasn't someone come up with a cure to the common cold yet? I mean, come on.
Old men with young women: immediate thoughts:
1) eww. 2) I want to slap both of them.
slap old man: for taking such a young woman, you dirty old man.
slap the young girl: what are you thinking?! You deserve much better and someone to grow old with, not someone who is already there.
Hm...that is all.
