Da Big Island

So here I am, finally giving a recap on our Thanksgiving break on the Big Island. Wolfgang and I had been talking since at least the beginning of last semester that we both really wanted to go to the temple on the Big Island, and so we came up with the idea that going during the Thanksgiving break would be perfect! So Wolfgang mentioned it to a co-worker to see if her and her husband wanted to go, and in no time they were game.

I don't want this post to be painfully long so all in all, it was a lot of fun and the Big Island is TOTALLY different from Oahu, but we really enjoyed it! I made a little picture slide show below, and I added some commentary to the pictures, so don't forget that part while looking at the pictures.

Enjoy!

Oahu X (obviously)
Maui X
Big Island X
Kauai ...next destination!

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I hope that so far you've had a wonderful Christmas, and that you continue to enjoy it. Here at the Dudley house it's been great, in fact it couldn't get any better. I feel truly blessed to be with my family during this Christmas season, and it's exciting to spend my first Christmas with the hubby ;)

It's funny how different Christmas is when you are "big kids" because instead of us, the kids, waking up my parents at the break of dawn, they now have to wake US up to open presents. Needless to say, Wolfgang and I woke up to Jessie coming into our room, standing on our bed, and jumping; it reminded me of old times when she use to do that and I would get SO mad at her. Also usually as soon as we wake up we open presents, but this year we even ate BEFORE presents! That's unheard of.

Another fun thing about this Christmas is that our cousin Danielle and her dog Bassie are spending time with the crazy Dudleys. Wolfgang and I always have "discussions" about whether later in life we'll get a dog (or cat) or not, and I'm always for a big YES and Wolfgang is a big NO. Growing up I always had dogs (Golden Retrievers to be exact) and Wolfgang never did, I guess it's not a big thing in Europe, or other reasons.

Anyway, so I was curious when I found out that Bassie was going to join us, to see how Wolfgang would react. He was a little iffy about it at first, but then guess who pet her a ton last night while watching a movie? Guess who's been playing around with her with a big smile on their face? Guess who is playing with her currently?

I rest my case. He still 'claims' that he doesn't want a dog, but we'll see about that...

DONE!

As of yesterday, Wolfgang and I are DONE with finals!! What a wonderful relief it is! I'm so so glad we now get to relax and have no school stress. Monday we start our journey home, and get there Tuesday afternoon! We are really really excited about it. Just to give you an idea, here are just some of the reasons we are excited to come home for a bit:

1. To see the fam, duh
2. Not listen to crying babies at night
3. Not listen to other noises from neighbors at night...
4. To get away from our jobs
5. To finally enjoy the Christmas season

Can't wait!

Eddie Aikau 2009

This is what we sadly missed today because of class/test/work/lack of vehicle.

Sigh.

wow.

The following text definitely falls into my personal category of best texts of the year:

"This Korean girl was bearing her testimony and started doing the loud awkward ugly cry, and she said she was so sad that she didn't get a chance to marry a Tongan."

to be continued...

Due to school, work, and especially finals (gag), I think I will be abandoning my blog for the next 2 1/2 weeks or so, or at least for the more lengthy and important ones like:

1. Our awesome Thanksgiving break on the Big Island, and
2. Finally a recap in pictures of our adventurous and amazing honeymoon in Europe.

So I just wanted to apologize in advance for the abandonment, but also to not give up hope, because I promise to blog about all of that over Christmas break! Can't it just be break time, right now?? I can't wait.
