So today I officially agreed to help my friend with her marine biology senior project today, but I was a little timid to do so, because it will involve night snorkeling. Many of you may thing, "awesome!" as I would too, but I've already had to do it once for that marine biology class that I took a year ago and I was such a pansy about snorkeling at night, so I didn't enjoy it all that much.(if you're really bored, you can read about it.)
But, I think it's time to put on my big girl pants and go for round two, and it's even at the exact same location, so now know what to expect. I'll be doing it next Monday or Wednesday, so I'll let you know how it goes.
Oh and one more thing, I'm going to apply here at the SWEET new resort/villas right outside of Page for this summer. I didn't realize it was so nice! Now I finally know what they've been hiding from us Page-ites behind the sandstone for the last year or so!

el semana pasado
Please excuse the Spanish title, I just finished some Spanish homework, and that's the first thing that came to mind for a title...
Last week was our "spring break," and it was absolutely wonderful. I didn't do anything too extravagant, but it was just way nice to be able to relax and not worry about school work! Instead of repeating information, I've decided to bum off Wolfgang's work and be lazy by giving you the link to his post about spring break. It's quite comical, yet potentially offensive? Nahh, my dad is just weird.
Although there is one thing he did forget to mention, and that is that we went snorkeling! It wasn't the best, so that's probably why he didn't remember/mention it. We went snorkeling at a place called "Shark's Cove" (no sharks). It's a great snorkeling place if you go in the actual cove and not the over-populated and shallow tide pool-ish area, but the swells were too big, so we couldn't, so we resorted to the tide pool area. It still has some fish, but it's just not as diverse. Although it was really neat to see some really long trumpetfish! It scared me at first because they looked like eels, but then we figured out what they really were. Trumpetfish look like this:
the ones we saw weren't this colorful
Or maybe it was a cornetfish? Anyway...
We also saw a lot of needlefish, for some reason I like how they swim right close to the surface of the water
Unless waves toss me around and trash me (bad experience at Hanauma Bay probably a year ago...someday I'll grow up and get over it), I find snorkeling extremely relaxing, and it just causes me to remember how wonderful and awesome the ocean is, yet very intimidating at the same time.
There were a couple of other fish we saw, the names I can't remember... shameful. After that Wolfgang, my friend Mollika and I went and got an acai bowl at Kava Roots...Mmmm. divine. Bursting with antioxidants, the cure for cancer, fully organic or not, they are so good. Come visit me and I'll take you to get one.

The Best Story Ever Told!
This is by FAR the best story I've heard in a long time, or maybe even ever.
But first off, I've got to introduce the subject of this story.

This is my student ward bishop, Bishop Gold. He is a kind and soft spoken man, that couldn't hurt a fly, in fact I'm pretty sure he's not even capable of raising his voice; the thought of it is unfathomable. :) He is also a biology professor on campus. Today in a meeting before church, he told us of this experience he had yesterday.
Yesterday at Hukilau beach, he took his kayak out and peddled out until he got to the drop off, so that he could do some fishing. He noticed that he started taking on a lot of water in his kayak, so he started to bail out water. All of a sudden about 20ft. away, up comes a mom and baby humpback whales!!! Isn't that amazing?!? But, this is only the beginning to the story.
After being in awe of being so close to the whales, all of a sudden his fishing line started screaming out of his fishing pole... you guessed it, he had caught a whale, A WHALE!! So he started to panic, as he found himself in a very stressful situation, especially after remembering that he had tied his fishing pole to the kayak. He frantically started searching for his knife to start cutting away at the rope, but luckily soon after the fishing line finally snapped, and his fishing pole was still in tact.
Can you believe that?!?! That is truly amazing, I can't believe something like that really happening! Next time he plays the game of, "tell everyone something you have done that you think no one else has done before" he'll win, hands down.
He is one lucky man not only because he now has an awesome story to tell, but that he was lucky enough that his line snapped so that his fishing pole was saved, and even better, that the whale didn't take off with his kayak, although someone did say, "that would of been a nice free trip to Alaska..."

done done done (and you bet I felt it)...
I'm DONE with finals!!! It's such a nice relief! In fact, it's actually quite weird that it's a Sunday night and I have no homework to do for tomorrow. This next coming week we have off, so it'll be so incredibly nice to just relax, and be able to breathe and not think of school for a short period of time. I plan on going on at least one hike, and just play hard to take full advantage of having no classes and no homework.
Oh, and for a little bed bug update...I contacted the university housing department through email to get them involved and hopefully get them to give a little kick in the butt to my landlord, and it actually worked, sort of, but they also said "She seems to be doing the best she can." riiiight. Yesterday my landlord infumigated my house, and I'm hoping it worked, especially since it left a nasty film all over the floor in my room.
So I'm excited for this coming week, and I'll keep you posted with any note worthy stuff we do. PS Wolfgang has a car now for a couple of months, because his roommate our friend Scott and JM left for Tawain to go get hitched and will come back for the summer semester, so he left the car for us! We are excited to be able to get around when we need/want to.
Let's just hope the weather will be great this week...

The Report
So here's the scoop on April Fool's Day-
As mentioned before, my little prankster roommate needed to go down, so we did what we could to get her back....some of the things we did are too...um, graphic maybe? so they will not be posted. BUT, this is something funny that I can blog about:
Toothpaste Oreos!

My roommate found the genius idea online, so we decided to do it. It turned out looking near perfect, and we were so excited! Unfortunately when I put them out the next day to trick the roommates, they had gotten a little mushy, so two of the roommates didn't fall for it, but one of them did! She took a bite into it an all, even though she did notice that the cookie was a little soft, but I guess when there is free food sitting out, there isn't much to stop you :)
Oh and one other roommate that we especially wanted to make sure we could prank, one of the several pranks we did was that we coated her car handle with vaseline. Eye for an eye, my dear roommate Allie! ;)
Needless to say, the pranks have still not ceased. The girls have given ex lax cookies to some guy friends a few houses down, put taco seasoning in their showerhead, wood in their pillows, it's been baaad, but luckily I've been out of the line of fire. For me, finding bed bugs randomly show up on my bed and in my backpack at school, are enough surprises for me. Yeah, the bed bugs are a WHOLE another story in itself, and its a very sore subject in my house right now. Long story short, my poor 3 other roommates from the other room have been sleeping in the living room for probably 2-2 1/2 weeks now because of bed bug problems. It's so fun having cheap landlords! We are setting off bug "fog" crap off tomorrow, hopefully it'll do the job, and especially them AND the mother of all cockroaches that I found in the kitchen the other day but ran away from me too fast.
The price you pay to live in "paradise."

You fool
Happy April Fool's Day!
I hope you all have had a great day and did a prank or two to someone. Honestly, I'm not much of a prankster myself, but I decided to change that for today, especially after all the pranks one of my roommates did to all of us...she's going down for sure! It included Vaseline on our bathroom doorknob, a fake letter from our landlord, soap on toothbrushes, (not mine luckily) hair conditioner on the toilet seat....and the works. I would tell you what I've done so far for revenge, but they have not yet been discovered yet...I'll give the report once they have found the surprises.
...to be continued.
