Quarter of a Century.

Yesterday I turned the big 2-5. I feel so old! Yet I'm still a child at heart.

Thanks to all those that made it special with messages, phone calls, and gifts. I really did appreciate every bit of it.

My good ol' husband made sure that it was going to be a great birthday, and it truly was. The day's festivities included:

-homemade delicious breakfast by Wolfgang

-hair cut(sorry, no head-on shot, I didn't like how the picture turned out. btw my hair isn't that red color, it's just bad lighting and using my camera phone)
I really liked how my hairstylist styled it. Why can't I ever seem to fully re-create what they did?!

-successful shoe shopping (this seems to be a rare occurrence)

-dinner at The Melting Pot with our family friend who recently got married. We hooked them up with a great room at Wolfgang's hotel for their wedding, and in return they wanted to treat us for dinner; oh boy did they ever! The Melting Pot is so SO good! I had heard good things about it, but we had never been there before. Definitely not one of those places you can go to often, but it was fantastic. Maybe someday in the near future, I'll buy a nice fondue pot? We'll see.

Wolfgang had even made me a cake, but we didn't even touch it because we were beyond full from dinner! Needless to say we still have a cake that hasn't been touched, haha. Trying to convince some friends to help us eat it, we hope they buy it.

As you can see I was really spoiled, and I felt very loved. Cheers to a new year!

Hair with benefits.

A year ago sometime this last week or so, I decided to cut my hair real short. I was excited but nervous that maybe it wouldn't look too great. I had it cut by an amazing hairstylist and artist in Vegas, of whom I still try to get my haircut by any chance I get, which has only been 2 or 3 times in the last couple of years.

I had also decided that if I was going to make such a dramatic change on my hair, I had to go all out. I colored and highlighted my hair, and also decided to splurge on some hair product too.

When I had a roommate in Hawaii who knows how to cut hair and was an ex-hair instructor, she convinced me that there is a difference in hair products (in this case, shampoo & conditioner to be exact). At first I was very skeptical, and thought paying more for a brand of shampoo was overrated and just a trap. Needless to say after she gave me some of her fancy stuff, I was converted; I could honestly see/ feel a difference.

So, I bought these two at that hair appointment that day, a year ago.

And guess what? I'm still using them! They are also only 10.1 oz & 8.5 oz, mind you. Yes they cost about double what I would pay at a store for the stuff I would normally get, but I do have to say, the investment has paid off. With the powers combined of short hair and good product that I only need about a half a dime size of each, these bad boys have lasted me a year, and I probably have at least another month left in them. {And yes, I do shower and wash my hair daily, thank you very much}

I feel pretty happy about that.

The good and the bad.

Let's get the bad out of the way, shall we?

-I had a terrible interview today. Without being too wordy, i'll give quick reasons why it was so bad.
1) It was a group interview
2) It was 2 1/2 hours long...let me repeat, 2 1/2!!!
3) 5 people in the interview "interviewing," 3 of which didn't need to be there, 2 of which a.
was chewing their gum b. texting. really people?
4) all around not so friendly and unprofessional vibe. PS I HATE when interviewers won't
look at me when I'm talking to them, and no, it wasn't a cultural thing.
5) had to take a ridiculous test at the end, "only 12 minutes to work on it" and all.

Sigh.

- Wolfgang is working tonight so we can't watch THE BACHELOR {season finale!} during it's air time! The suspense might kill me. I think I'll have to avoid facebook status updates until we watch it. I'm on team Emily, btw.

Now, finally for the 'good':

-I got my hair cut today. and I love it! suuuper short, but I'm happy, and the hairstylist rocked my hair, and had a great personality too~definitely will be going back. My goal was to not cut my hair until I got a job...but it was getting way too shaggy. Might have hindered me from getting a job, right? ... ps I will be saying NO to that company if they ask me for a second interview. I'm desperate, but not THAT desperate.

Hair snob

Ok ok, I realize I've been talking a lot about my hair lately. What can I say? I love having short hair, and I'm quite anal about it.

But along with having short hair, this equals having hair cuts, A LOT more often than I use to. I use to cut my hair maybe twice a year... I would let it grown out all nasty, but it didn't matter because I always had it up, because the humidity here in Hawaii gets the the best of it.

I've come to realize that I am a hair snob. I use to have my awesome roommate cut my hair here in Hawaii, but unfortunately for me (but fortunately for her) she has left da island and is now touring Jerusalem and surrounding areas.

So, that is the only person I have ever let cut my hair here, and any other times I waited until I was on the mainland to get it cut.

I hesitated to find someone to cut my hair that I trust; I don't like finding new people, and I've had my hair butchered before: no bueno. I flipped.

The first time I went to one place, and she did a pretty good job, although she informed me that she too was leaving the island for good in a week. great.

Since then, the short hair cut I got was from this amazing hairstylist in Vegas that I went do while we were on the mainland in August; she is so great, and I have had my hair done by her before. Needless to say, I've needed a hair cut since then, and have already had it trimmed once while I've been here. I've decided to branch out and try someone new, with the help of yelp.com.

Next Saturday Wolfgang and I have a hair app, and I'm nervous and hope that it'll turn out good, because this shaggy hair needs a good cutin'.

Sorry, that was probably a really boring post.
