Long day

To be completely honest, work was close to terrible today; I really considered using some choice words against one of my "managers" and just leaving work.... But I decided to be the bigger person and stay.

Needless to say, it was great to see one of my (second) cousins and her husband (and a co-worker) tonight for a few brief hours, and to enjoy TED'S BAKERY with them.

Thank you, Google images

Never mind that I'm trying to cut back on sweets, I 'needed' this today.

Aloha O'e to today, and Aloha to a better day tomorrow at work.

Gone?

Update on the Devil (Rooster)

he is GONE!

Well, I think so, and I really hope so.

The last several days, I have not heard him once.
Did he move on?
Did someone shoot him with a BB gun to slow him down, capture him. stuff him in the truck, and drive him 20 minutes away? (my idea)
Or maybe he just hasn't been liking all the rain we've been getting?

I don't know, but I'm glad he's gone, and I'm keeping my fingers
crossed that it stays that way.

books, books, books.

These are some books that I would like to read this summer:

Also a book written by
-Nelson Mandella
-Desmond Tutu

...just to name a few.
Ok, so maybe I won't get them all read before my

LAST SEMESTER OF SCHOOL.

Sunny Saturday

Evidence of a fabulous day at the beach yesterday.

yeah, it's just a little sensitive today, but it was so worth it. I just need to remember reapply after getting in the water. What can I say, it's been a while.

...and it continues...

The battle has not been conquered quite yet with our feathery foe. Considering he probably has a brain the size of a pea, I guess he hasn't figured out yet that we REALLY don't want him as a resident of TVA.

Today Wolfgang received some "good husband points." While I'm the one who has been doing the chasing, this morning when I had no will power to get up and get the rooster to shut up, Wolfgang stepped in, after listening to the dumb bird for a while. It was a slightly amusing to hear a slightly distressed rooster from our window, as it was being chased away.

Yesterday I purchased some ear plugs, but after testing them while the children were yelling and screaming on the playground, I soon found that they don't help so much.

So the battle of the rooster vs. (wo)man still continues. I'm thinking Wolfgang and I are going to have to come up with a plan B, and it might not be pretty, although we've both said that we ourselves couldn't actually kill the rooster if we had it in our possession. I've been inspired by my friend Brooke when she said her dad caught one that was in their yard one time, and he drove it away to someone's chicken coup and threw it over the fence.

Hm...

Revenge

Laie has a serious chicken problem; they are everywhere. Unfortunately many people are burdened with listening to the roosters at unreasonable hours of the morning.

You know, roosters are kind of like the devil... because some of them are pretty colors, and they seem like innocent little animals. WRONG.

About two weeks ago or so, one particular rooster decided to make his home in our little courtyard/playground area, which happens to be right outside out bedroom window. Without fail, every morning he wakes up, and does his cock-a-doodle-doo thing, and does it for approximately 30mins as he circles around the courtyard. Every time I wake up and have been so incredibly annoyed, but too tired to do anything about it.

Then, a friend told me of a guy in our church that supposedly...gets "rid of" roosters, so I approached him desperately in need of help. Comes to find out, he has never ki...."gotten rid of" a rooster in his life.

So considering I don't have the heart or the tools to send him on his way to another life, I decided something else needed to be done. So this morning when he so kindly woke me up again, I hurried and got dressed, picked up some rocks, and marched on down and over to the courtyard; it was time to show who REALLY was the boss.

The rooster must deep down inside know that he is severely irritating, because as soon as he saw me, he took off running. Now, I didn't just get up at 6:30am for him to get off that easy, so I decided to chase after him, while throwing rocks.
*(no animal was harmed in this scenario)
So I chased him for a little bit until he was far enough away for my satisfaction.

I fully expect him to be in the exact same place tomorrow morning, but we will also have a lovely meeting once again, until he gets the hint that this isn't his home.

Today, I consider myself a hero, because I know that all the other people who live near me were happy not to listen to the devil in feathers for a half an hour.
